Newborn Specialists

Newborn specialists are commonly referred to as ‘baby nurses’. A newborn specialist receives extensive training in all aspects of newborn care and parental education. Typically, families hire a newborn specialist to come home and help with the new baby for several weeks after the child is born. The specialist educates the parents on day-to-day baby care such as changing diapers, bathing, feeding, sterilizing bottles and doing the baby’s laundry.
The newborn specialist’s help often gives new parents a chance to get much needed rest following the baby’s birth. Some newborn specialists offer other services such as doing laundry or helping to prepare meals. It is quite common for a newborn specialist to stay around longer than a few weeks because of the tremendous help and support they provide the families they work for.
