Live-In Nanny A live-in nanny provides childcare while residing in the same residence as both the child and parents. She is responsible for providing a safe environment where the child can be creative, learn and excel while the parents are away. She prepares nutritious meals at mealtimes specifically customized to suite the child's needs and meet the parent's requirements. Live-Out Nanny A live-out nanny shares the same responsibilities as a live-in nanny; however, she resides outside the family's home. She comes to the family's home as specifically arranged to provide care for the children while the parents are away. At the end of the day, she returns to her own home. Schedules A nanny may work full-time or part-time and possibly on weekends or holidays. The nanny's schedule is determined by the family's needs and varies based on each family situation. Scheduling should be discussed directly with the nanny during the initial interview. Salary The typical salary for a nanny ranges from $7 to $20 an hour and is contingent upon education, training and experience. The number of children being cared for along with any special requests the family has all directly affect her salary. Benefits The law does not require that nannies be given benefits by the families they are employed by. However, different families might offer benefits such as transportation, meals and lodging. Whether or not benefits are included is at the sole discretion of the family. Any benefits or lack of should be discussed during the initial interview. |
